Descole's Apprentices
Apprentice's Arc
Chapter 1| The Beginning of Something New

(Carlo’s POV)
I had absolutely no clue why Desmond wanted me today. He would have called and asked for a task to be done, but today he said that I should meet him at the coffee shop not in disguise. Well, of course we can't be Jean and Jorge in public, but still, it made me suspicious.
I was greeted by the shopkeeper as I entered the small cafe. It was mostly locals, so when I scanned the crowd I found Desmond right away. He was towards the back of the room, talking with another person. I raised my eyebrow. Who is he talking to? I wondered as I approached the table. And why don't I know them?
Desmond glanced up and smiled. “Ah, you're here,” he said. I nodded and sat down next to him. “Carlo, I would like you to meet Chris Herzen. Chris, this is my good friend Carlo Altava.”
The young man, Chris, nodded in my direction. I merely nodded back, assessing him. He was about my age, and judging by the color of his outfit, he was clearly a fan of the color blue. I looked down at my green jacket and basically said the same thing about myself.
“It's nice to meet you,” I said to him. He was a little taken back by my thick accent, but it was normal to me. I don't really look like someone from South America, after years of living in London. Heck, if you listened closely, you can hear a small bit of a British accent in my thick El Salvador accent. “As Desmond said here, I'm Carlo Altava. Yes, I was adopted from another country, if that's what you're thinking.”
“I wasn't thinking about that at all,” Chris replied, apparently calm. “My brain is still stuck on, ‘Where have I heard the name Altava before?’ Sorry about that, by the way.”
I eyed him down before replying, “Well, my step sister Emmy Altava. You know, the famous Professor Layton’s assistant?” I hardened my gaze when I mentioned the Professor. He’s the sworn enemy of Descole, and I kind of hate him too. Desmond gave me a slight nod, which I think Chris noticed, as he became confused.
“I see that you apparently hate Professor Layton,” Chris stated, his gaze lowered. I was shocked. He could know that by just what I did? He looked back up at me, his dark purple gaze cold and serene. “I wonder why, since you’re ‘sister’ works with him.”
“Well, I’d rather not say,” I merely replied, starting to stand. “Why would I tell you? I barely know you, it’s not like we’re best of friends!”
“Carlo, please, calm yourself,” Desmond interrupted, glaring at me. I sighed, knowing he was right. I was reacting over nothing at all. I sat back down again, glancing back up at my mentor. I nodded, and turned back to Chris.
“Well, not that I’ve told you about myself, why don’t you elaborate on what you do?” I asked him, fixing my hat. He seemed a little taken back by my sudden outburst, but was now calm and ready to reply.
“I'm afraid we don't have the time, Carlo,” Desmond interrupted. I glanced at him, but all he did was nod twice. He needed me, or at least my alter ego, to do something. I stood and nodded to Chris.
“It was nice to meet you,” I told him. “I hope we can meet again soon.” And with that, I swiftly left the table and went out the door.

(Chris’s POV)
I was very intrigued as Carlo left the cafe. There wasn't much I knew about him, besides what he told me, and he seemed to get angry easily. I glanced up at Desmond, who was smiling at me.
“Ah, I hoped that you two would get along,” he merely said. I nodded and stood. He grinned at me evilly. “So, what do you think of him?”
“He's nice, but he seems to have a short temper,” I replied, fidgeting with a pen I had. “Either way, he seems like a good person.” That's when my curiosity spiked. I raised an eyebrow at my mentor. “Why did you bring me to meet him?
“Oh, I just knew you both and thought it would be nice if you two would meet,” Desmond told me. But before I could reply, he swiftly left the cafe.
This was making me very curious. Desmond has to really know Carlo in order to introduce him to me, his apprentice! But hey, I had gained a new friend. Perhaps this day wasn't so normal after all...

I really Hope you guys like this story! :happybounce: La la la la La la la la
